PROVO -- The 2009 Mountain West Conference Champion BYU softball team (37-15, 10-1) is set to close the regular season with three games at Miller Park starting Thursday.

The Cougars will host New Mexico on Thursday at 7 p.m. before facing Colorado State at 7 p.m. on Friday and 2 p.m. on Saturday.

Following Saturday’s contest the team will be honored for its MWC Championship and the two seniors, Monica Gonzales and Stephanie Hopkins, will be recognized for their accomplishments on the field during their four seasons at BYU.

New Mexico ranks fifth in the conference at 3-9 and 12-33 overall. The Cougars defeated the Lobos 13-4 and 10-3 earlier this season.

Colorado State is fourth in conference at 5-6 and 24-23 overall. The Rams fell at the hands of the Cougars 10-0 as Christie Zinanti threw a two-hit shutout and BYU hit three homers in Fort Collins, Colo., earlier this season.

Following the completion of the regular season BYU will receive an automatic bid in the NCAA Tournament because of the MWC title. NCAA Regional opponents, date and location will be announced on Sunday at 8 p.m. on ESPNU.

Livestats for all three games will be available at www.byucougars.com
