PROVO -- The BYU women’s softball team (6-5) is set to face five teams, including No. 1 Alabama, at the Cathedral City Classic in Palm Springs, Calif. beginning Thursday.

The Cathedral City Classic is one of the premiere Division I softball tournaments in the country, with 13 teams ranked in the top-25 participating.

The Cougars will play the nation’s leading team on Thursday at 12:30 p.m. (PST) before facing Ole Miss at 3 p.m. (PST). It will be the first time that BYU will face the No.1 ranked team in the country, at the time of the ranking.
