BYU Battles for Conference Title
PROVO -- After a hard-fought week of conference games, the BYU women's softball team (36-16, 10-4) takes a conference break to host Northern Colorado (13-34) on Tuesday at 6 p.m. before traveling to Salt Lake on Friday and Saturday to play Deseret Duel and in-state rival Utah (26-21, 9-5).
The Cougars met Northern Colorado early in the softball season when they beat the Bears 11-1 in six innings at the Red Desert Classic. Northern Colorado is 4-17 on the road.
BYU split two games with Utah earlier this season at home. In the first game BYU won 11-0 in five innings. They were unable to fight off the Utes in the second game, losing 6-4. BYU currently leads the Duel 29.5 point to 27. Each game against Utah is worth 1.5 points.
BYU looks to further their conference lead when they face off against Utah. The Cougars currently sit atop the conference standings, but are fighting off of San Diego State and Utah who are tied in second.
