Cougars Head Down the Parkway to Play UVSC

PROVO -- The BYU softball team will not have to travel very far as the Cougars will battle the UVSC Wolverines in a doubleheader on Tuesday in Orem starting at 2 p.m.

BYU is posting a 16-9 overall record coming off a big 5-2 win over Hawai`i and a close 7-5 loss to No. 12 Stanford in Palo Alto, Calif. last weekend at the Stanford Classic. The Wolverines are registering an 11-7 overall record this season since moving up to playing at the Division I level.

After the games wrap up, fans are invited to come back over to BYU for the second-annual Movie Night at Miller Park. The Sandlot will begin at 8:30 p.m. with pre-movie promotions starting at 8 p.m. The gates open at 7 p.m. and fans will have a chance to win dozens of prizes. Tickets are $2 and are on sale at the BYU Wilkinson Student Center information desk.

"We'll eat hot dogs, sing Take Me Out to the Ballgame and then sit inside picturesque Miller Park and watch a The Sandlot on a big screen centered at second base -- right where you'd expect to see a double play or steal take place" said Athletic Marketing Director Tony Jewkes.

The Cougars will open up their conference season with doubleheaders on Thursday and Friday at Gail Miller Field. These games will also be the first home games of the season. BYU will face UNLV on Thursday starting at 3 p.m. and SDSU on Friday starting at 4 p.m.
