Heading Towards Sunny Rays to Continue Sunny Ways

PROVO -- The BYU women's softball team rides a six-game winning streak heading into the Southern Florida Tournament this weekend. The Cougars are currently 11-8 and are coming off some exciting victories from the Red Desert Classic last weekend.

The Cougars are led by junior Brooke Cadiente, who was named MWC Player of the Week for her three home run performance last weekend. All-American Oli Keohohou also homered three times in the tournament and leads the team in batting average and slugging percentage. The Cougars are pleased with the young pitching on Ariel Capra, Cynthia Fallowfield, and the sudden confidence of freshman Niki Andersen.

The Cougars will face ACC power Maryland on Thursday at 3 p.m., followed by Houston (14-7) at 7 p.m. On Friday the Cougars face Florida International at noon and Big-10 Michigan State immediately after at 2 p.m. They will conclude the tournament on Saturday against Georgia State at 2 p.m.

The Cougars first home game will be Wednesday, Mar. 13 against UVSC at Gail Miller Field. The double header will start at 2 p.m.
