Pair of Weekend Doubleheaders

PROVO , Utah. -- BYU will host conference-leading San Diego State on Friday starting at 2 p.m. The second game of the doubleheader will be televised on BYUTV live and rebroadcast locally on KBYU channel 11 at 11 p.m. Friday night. The Cougars were swept at San Diego during opening weekend on conference play and look to avenge their losses. Viewers from the San Diego area can pick up the game if they are subscribers of Dish Network 500 and Direct TV. For more information go to www.byutv.org

The Cougars will face conference foe UNLV on Saturday in a doubleheader starting at noon. All four home game will be broadcast via the Internet on the softball home page at www.byucougars.com under the new "webcast" link.

"We excited to be back home to play in front of our fans," head coach Mary Kay Amicone said.

BYU sophomore outfielder Oli Keohohou has been named Mountain West Conference Softball Player of the Week for her performance against Utah State and Utah last week.

Keohohou earned her second player of the week award of the season and fourth of her career going 6-for-9 (.667) from the plate, with two home runs, three doubles and seven RBI in four games last week for the Cougars. The Newbury, Calif. native had a hit in every game starting with her best performance of the week in game one of a doubleheader against Utah State. Keohohou went 2-for-2 from the dish and smashed a seventh-inning grand slam, powering the Cougars to a 7-3 victory. She finished the game with five RBI and one run scored while drawing three walks. In BYU's, 3-2, game two win over the Aggies, she went 2-for-3, with an RBI, and scored the winning run off an error by the pitcher. In a conference doubleheader against Utah, she went 2-for-4, with a home run in game two, an RBI and three runs scored while drawing five walks. The All-American currently leads the MWC in batting average (.442), slugging percentage (.962), home runs (16), on-base percentage (.642), runs scored (48), RBI (42), walks (59) and total bases (100).
