Colorado State, New Mexico Round Out Regular Season

PROVO -- The BYU women's softball team will travel to face conference foes Colorado State on Thursday and New Mexico on Saturday to finish the regular season. The Cougars are currently 27-19, 4-8 in conference play and is fifth place in the conference. The Cougars will be unable to defend their regular season MWC title, but have a chance to jump as high as third place with a strong weekend.

BYU has had two of their last three conference games cancelled due to bad weather. The Cougars split with first-place San Diego State two weeks ago at home. BYU was swept earlier this season by Colorado State at home, the second game going into sixteen innings. The Cougars split their first series against New Mexico.

"We hope to gain some momentum heading into the MWC Tournament," head coach Mary Kay Amicone said. "Having the tournament at home with our fan support should help."

Sophomore Oli Keohohou is second in the nation in home runs with 17. She is also ninth in the country in batting average with .444. Junior Cynthia Fallowfield leads the team in wins with 11.

BYU will host the Mountain West Conference Tournament next weekend May 8-11 at Gail Miller Park. For a three-day pass the cost is 15 dollars for adults and 10 dollars for students, seniors, and children under 18 years of age. For a one-day pass the cost is eight dollars for adults and five dollars for students, seniors, and children under 18.
