Six BYU softball players earn WCC All-Academic recognition

SAN MATEO, Calif. — BYU softball had six student-athletes recognized for their success both on the field and in the classroom, with the West Coast Conference announcing its 2021-22 All-Academic honors on Thursday afternoon.

Seniors Autumn Moffat-Korth and Taylei Williams were named to the All-Academic First Team, with Williams receiving her third-straight first-team honor. 

An exercise and wellness major out of Mona, Utah, Williams recorded a 3.93 GPA through four years at BYU. The senior had a career-best .394 batting average this season, good for third on the team. Williams also led the team in stolen bases (16), doubles (13) and triples (2). 

After five years on the roster, Moffat-Korth left BYU with a degree in physical education coaching and teaching, earning a 3.60 GPA. In her final season this year, Moffat-Korth led the team with 19 wins, totaling a 1.67 ERA with 98 strikeouts. Her 1.67 ERA is tied for the third-best ERA in a single season in BYU softball history. 

Also recognized were Alyssa Podhurcak, Taryn Lennon, Brooke Hill-Barrington and HannahJo Peterson, who were named WCC All-Academic Honorable Mention. 

Podhurcak, a junior at second base, holds a 3.66 GPA. Lennon, a junior outfielder, holds a 3.48 GPA. Peterson, a senior right fielder, earned a 3.30 GPA, and Hill-Barrington, a senior on first base, earned a 3.68 GPA.
