HENDERSON, Nev. – Ashley Godfrey hit a two-run walk-off homer to help the BYU softball team beat Georgetown 3-1, splitting the doubleheader after losing to UC Davis 4-2 earlier at the Boyd Gaming Rebel Tournament.

“We didn’t play great softball today, but we fought through adverse conditions,” BYU head coach Gordon Eakin said. “We battled it out and got the split.”

After rain canceled the first two games of the tournament, the Cougars (2-4, 0-0 WCC) began their first day of the Boyd Gaming Rebel Classic with a loss to UC Davis (4-1, 0-0 Big West) followed by a game that came down to the wire against Georgetown (1-5, 0-0 Big East).

Emilee Erickson went 2 for 3 against the Aggies, tallying her second homer of the season and one RBI. In her first career start, Morgan Bevell went 2 for 3 and scored a run against Georgetown. Arissa Paulson and Autumn Moffat both pitched complete games, recording nine and six strikeouts, respectively.

UC Davis took the first lead of the game with an RBI single to left field to make the score 1-0 after the first inning. BYU answered back in the top of the second as Erickson hit one over the fence to even the score at 1-1.
