BYU to host SUU in doubleheader on Tuesday
PROVO, Utah – BYU softball will kick off its six-game home stand with a doubleheader against Southern Utah at Gail Miller Field on Tuesday.
These two teams have a long history, playing 53 games total. BYU leads 48-5 in the series record, going 23-3 at home. The last time these two teams met in April of last season, the Thunderbirds broke the Cougars’ 33-game winning streak against them with an 11-8 win in Provo.
BYU is looking to bounce back after winning just one of three at Texas last weekend. In the first game, the Cougars took the 3-1 win behind Ashley Thompson’s two-run homer in the first inning.
Southern Utah has a 6-28 record this season (3-3 Big Sky). The Thunderbirds are fresh off of a three-game series against Portland State, winning one of the three. Two players, Kylee Wolf and Morgan Leonard, went 3 for 5 in the win to lead the team. Wolf had three RBI.
The doubleheader will start at 5 p.m. MDT, with the second game starting at about 7 p.m. MDT. Both games will be televised live on BYUtv and broadcast on BYU Radio –Sirius XM 143. Live stats will also be available on the BYU schedule page.
