Cougars and Utes face off on Tuesday in Salt Lake City

PROVO, Utah – BYU softball will face off against Utah in the Deseret First Duel on Tuesday in Salt Lake City.

BYU Game Notes

Against Utah, the Cougars have a 31-17 all-time record with a 12-10 road mark. The two teams haven’t faced each other since 2014 when Utah won a 1-0 meeting in nine innings in Salt Lake City.

The Cougars (14-10) are fresh off of a 2-2 weekend in Oklahoma, totaling 13 runs, 19 hits and six home runs over the four games. BYU beat Maryland and Saint Louis over the weekend, falling to No. 13/14 Oklahoma in two games.

Utah is off to a solid start in 2016, boasting a 16-8 record. The Utes have played five top-25 teams, and in all but one, they have only lost by one run. They went 4-1 last weekend at the UCF Spring Fling. Last season, the Utes finished with a 36-19 record, including a 12-11 mark in conference play. They advanced to the NCAA tournament, falling in the Tennessee Regional.
