Broderick named WCC Player of the Week for third time in a row
PROVO, Utah– Sophomore Sydney Broderick collected her third consecutive Player of the Week honor as announced by the West Coast Conference Monday.
Broderick fueled BYU’s offense last week, leading the Cougars (25-8) to four wins including a sweep of Saint Mary’s to open WCC play.
The catcher out of Ashburn, Virginia, upped her season batting average to .400 while hitting 9-for-16 with three doubles, three home runs and nine RBI including her second multi-home run game of the season. She registered a .562 OBP with a 1.312 slugging percentage.
With BYU up 2-1 in game two against Saint Mary’s, Broderick drove a two-out home run to right field for her second of the game, pushing the score to 3-1. In the third game against the Gaels, she was responsible for four RBI on two two-run doubles. Across the four games, she hit 4-for-8 with runners in scoring position.
In addition to the WCC honor, she was also named College Sports Madness WCC Player of the Week.
The Cougars will face Utah Valley Tuesday at 3 p.m. MDT before hosting Pacific this weekend.
