Former Cougars in Olympics
LONDON – Former BYU men’s volleyball players Rich Lambourne and Russell Holmes are slated to see Olympic action in London as members of the USA men’s national volleyball team.
Before joining the USA men’s national volleyball team in 2000, Lambourne started at outside hitter on BYU’s first-ever national championship team in 1999. Lambourne has won numerous world championships, including a gold medal at the 2008 Beijing Olympics.
Middle blocker Russell Holmes joined the national team in 2009. The All-American was a Cougar from 2004-08.
The U.S. Men are the defending Olympic champions and are ranked No. 6 in the world. The team will begin play in the London Olympic Games on July 29 against Serbia.
