PROVO, Utah - Sophomore Taylor Sander has been named MPSF Player of the Week for the second time in a row after his performance last weekend when No. 1 BYU defeated No. 5 USC.

Sander (Norco, CA/Norco HS) repeats this honor from last week, leading two more MPSF wins in top-five competition. Sander hit .400 in the two-match series (48-12-90), averaging 5.33 kills over nine sets. He totaled seven blocks, and series-highs three aces and 54.5 points (6.06 P/S) over the weekend.

This season, Sander is averaging 4.90 kills/game and 5.79 points/game to lead the conference.

The Cougars defeated USC last weekend in 3-1 and 3-2 match scores on Friday and Saturday, respectively. The Smith Fieldhouse hosted over 9,000 fans over the weekend to see the number one volleyball team in the country. On Friday, Sander’s 23 kills led all players and his .419 attacking did too. He also contributed five blocks and an ace. Saturday’s 25 kills were second highest but his .383 attack still led all players. He also totaled 45.5 points in both matches. Sander leads the team in kills, attempts and aces as he’s helped the Cougars on a six-game winning streak so far this season.
