No. 3 BYU to host No. 4 Hawai'i in crucial conference matches
PROVO, Utah – No. 3 BYU men’s volleyball hosts No. 4 Hawai’i this week in a pair of crucial conference matches.
With Long Beach State holding a 13-1 Mountain Pacific Sports Federation record, the Cougars (17-2, 11-1 MPSF) and Rainbow Warriors (20-2, 10-2 MPSF) will battle to keep pace with the 49ers for first place in league play.
Last Week Out
BYU swept No. 9 Pepperdine in a pair of road matches in Malibu. Jake Langlois led the Cougars, averaging 5.67 kills, 1.17 digs and 1.00 blocks per set on the week.
No. 4 Hawai’i
- BYU faces Hawai’i Friday, March 17, and Saturday, March 18, with both matches starting at 7 p.m. MDT.
- BYU leads the overall series history 38-18 and is an impressive 23-3 when playing the Rainbow Warriors at home.
- Hawai’i comes into the match riding a 15-match win streak and a program-record 32-set win streak. The Rainbow Warriors’ only losses on the season are both to No. 1 Long Beach State.
- The Cougars have won the past four matches against Hawai’i – picking up three- and four-set wins on the road last season. BYU also won both matches two years ago when the Rainbow Warriors came to Provo ranked No. 1 in the nation.
