PROVO, Utah – After collecting conference player of the week accolades, BYU opposite Ben Patch has been named the Sports Imports/AVCA Division I-II National Player of the Week after leading No. 2 BYU men's volleyball to a pair of road wins at No. 7 Hawai'i last week.

In the first match, Patch collected a match-high 22 kills with just one hitting error to rack up a season-high .700 clip. He also added three digs and three blocks in the sweep. In the final match of the week, Patch added another match-high 17 kills to go along with six digs and four blocks.

For the week, he averaged 6.07 points, 5.57 kills, 1.29 digs and 1.00 blocks per set while hitting at a .456 clip. The wins keep BYU on a nation-best 12-match win streak and within a half match of first place in Mountain Pacific Sports Federation play.

This is Patch's first weekly AVCA honor of the year and third of his career after picking up back-to-back accolades his freshman year.

Patch and the Cougars have a bye this week before hosting No. 9 Pepperdine beginning Friday, March 18, 2016, at 7 p.m. MST.
