Langlois and Patch added to Pan Am Cup roster
RENO, Nev. – Junior Jake Langlois and sophomore Ben Patch have been selected to compete for the United States at the Pan American Cup from Aug. 12-17 at the Reno Events Center.
Langlois and Patch are two of seven players on the roster that are still in college.
“This is our second week of being together as a team,” U.S. head coach Jeff Nygaard said. “I think we’ve done some great team-building. We’ve got guys on the team that respond really well to direction. I feel we have the potential to be a great team in this tournament.”
The Pan American Cup is an annual tournament that gives the up-and-coming stars of men’s volleyball the opportunity to face international competition. Teams from the United States, Argentina, Brazil, Canada, Dominican Republic, Mexico, Puerto Rico and Venezuela are scheduled to compete this year.
The United States has never hosted the event before this year, but has won it five times and finished in second-place twice. Most recently, in 2014, the U.S. team finished second to Cuba.
