Sander named MPSF Player of the Week
PROVO, Utah—BYU outside hitter Taylor Sander was named Mountain Pacific Sports Federation Player of the Week for his performances against Cal State Northridge and then-No. 1 Long Beach State.
Sander totaled 38 kills on the weekend, including a season-high 24 against Long Beach State. The senior outside hitter also had 11 digs against the 49ers, leading then-No. 9 BYU to a 3-1 upset Saturday at the Smith Fieldhouse.
Sander opened the weekend with 14 kills against Cal State Northridge in the Cougars’ first win of the season. Sander, who hails from Huntington Beach, Calif., hit a .356 clip for the two matches.
This is the fourth MPSF Player of the Week honor of Sander’s career.
