Men's volleyball signs five for 2015

PROVO, Utah—BYU men’s volleyball head coach Chris McGown announced the team has signed five recruits for the 2015 season.

The recruits will join the team starting in the fall of 2014 as the Cougars train for 2015. Four of the five signees are products of California, and one comes from Pennsylvania. Among the five are two outside hitters, one setter, one middle blocker and one libero.

  • Plays for Ventura Country Volleyball Club
  • Invited to play on the HP A1 national beach team in 2012
  • Played on the SoCal HP regional beach team in 2013
  • Earned a spot to play at the HP National Beach tournament in 2013

“Erik came onto our radar late in the process, and we were really happily surprised that we had a chance to recruit him. He’s one of the top liberos in his class, with great touch on the ball and very smooth fundamentals. He sees the game very well, and is solid in both serve-receive and defense.  He’s an intense competitor as well, and we feel like he’ll raise the level in our gym and push our team to be better every day.”
