Men's golf hosts 57th PING Cougar Classic

PROVO, Utah — BYU men's golf welcomes 13 teams to Provo April 22-23 for the 57th Annual PING Cougar Classic at Riverside Country Club.

The Cougars are seeking their 39th victory at the event that has been played at Riverside Country Club since 1963.

The 2022 Cougar Classic field includes Air Force, Boise State, Colorado State, Dixie State, Nevada, New Mexico State, Pacific, San Diego, Saint Mary's, Utah Valley, Washington State and Wyoming. 

BYU is coming off a fifth place finish at the Western Intercollegiate where two Cougars finished in the top-13. Senior Carson Lundell fired rounds of 70-72-67—212 to finish runner up at the Western for the second consecutive year.

David Timmins matched Lundell's three-under-par final round to finish with rounds of 75-74-67—216 and grab a share of 13th place, his second top-15 finish of the year.

The 54-hole event will be contested over two days with 36-holes being played on Friday, April 22 beginning with a 9 a.m. MDT shotgun start due the threat of inclement weather. The final 18-holes is scheduled for Saturday, April 23. The tournament is open to spectators.
