Fishburn, Christiansen move BYU to 11th place

PALO ALTO, Calif. – Patrick Fishburn is tied for eighth individually helping BYU move to 11th place after the second round of The Goodwin on Friday.

"The guys finished better today, and the score shows it," BYU head coach Bruce Brockbank said. "Patrick (Fishburn) and Austen (Christiansen) played some very good golf today. Spencer (Dunaway) and Kai (Ruiz) also played well. We made some putts and the end of our round that helped our team score well. We hope to play our best round tomorrow."

The Cougars improved from 15th to 11th place in day two of the tournament, shooting 4 over on the day. BYU is tied with Pacific and Nevada for 11th place. The Cougars are at 17 over through two rounds.

Fishburn, who started the day on the front nine, shot 2 under through the first nine holes. He birdied the seventh and ninth holes. Fishburn also eagled the 16th hole. The sophomore posted a 69 to finish the second round and sits at 2 under par overall. Fishburn is tied for eighth place after 36 holes.

Spencer Dunaway moved from 42nd place to 37th after today’s 18 holes. Dunaway birdied four holes Friday, and shot 2 over in round two.

Shooting even par Friday, Austen Christiansen is currently tied for 62nd place. The freshman birdied three holes in the round, and shot 1 under on the front nine.

UC Davis leads all teams at 11 under. BYU trails West Coast Conference foes No. 38 Pepperdine and Saint Mary’s, while sits ahead of Santa Clara, San Francisco and LMU.
