BYU cross country receives at-large bid to NCAA Championships
INDIANAPOLIS-- No. 5 BYU men's cross country was one of 13 teams to recieve an at-large bid to the upcoming NCAA Championships in Terre Haute, Ind., on Nov. 23.
The Cougars and the other at-large bids join a field of 18 automatic qualifiers from the various regional meets. The top two teams from each of the nine regions recieved automatic bids. Northern Arizona and Colorado took the automatic spots in the Mountain Region, where the Cougars finished fourth.
BYU has finished in first place in four of the six races it has competed in this year. Jason Witt and Tylor Thatcher have taken first overall in meets this season. WIth the recent reinstatement of All-American Jared Ward, the Cougars figure to be in the mix for a podium spot at nationals.
The men's race will begin at noon ET. A live broadcast of the championships will be streamed on NCAA.com.
