No. 10 Pepperdine, Loyola Marymount set to host Cougars

Image

PROVO, Utah – With four regular-season matches remaining, the BYU women's tennis squad travels to California this week to face No. 10 Pepperdine and Loyola Marymount.

The Cougars (4-13, 2-3 West Coast Conference) face the Waves (15-2, 5-0 WCC) on Friday, April 15, at 1:30 p.m. PDT at the Ralphs-Straus Tennis Center in Malibu. BYU will play LMU (7-10, 2-3 WCC) on Saturday, April 16, at 1:00 p.m. PDT in Los Angeles at the LMU Tennis Center.

BYU will try to break a four-match skid after dropping last weekend's match against Santa Clara. Junior Toby Miclat leads the team with 11 wins on the season while senior Nicolette Poulsen has won four of her last five matches.

Tenth-ranked Pepperdine looks to defend a perfect conference record and is still undefeated at home this season. The Waves' top singles player, Luisa Stefani, is currently ranked No. 5 in the nation while Pepperdine's doubles pairs are ranked No. 16, No. 23 and No. 80, respectively.

Loyola Marymount is coming off of conference losses against Portland and Gonzaga and remains just one spot ahead of BYU in the WCC standings. The Lions will host San Diego on Friday prior to Saturday's match against the Cougars. BYU holds an all-time 3-2 record against LMU.
