Cal Nike Invitational Concludes

BERKELEY, Calif.--The BYU women's tennis team wrapped up their run in the Cal Nike Invitational with sophomore Mackenna Maddox falling in the quarterfinals on Saturday.
 
Maddox lost a close two-set match to newcomer West Coast Conference foe, Pacific's Francis Dean, 7-5, 7-5.
 
"I'm happy with how we competed this weekend," BYU coach Lauren Jones-Spencer said. "We played some great tennis."
 
BYU players will continue their fall season next week when they travel to Las Vegas for the ITA Mountain Regional tournament Wednesday-Saturday, Oct. 9-12.

BYU women's tennis to compete in Cal Nike Invitational

PROVO, Utah--Coming off a sweep of the doubles and singles in their first tournament of the year, BYU women's tennis will compete in the Cal Nike Invitational Friday and Saturday, Sept. 27-28.
 
"We're excited to go to the Cal Nike Invitational," BYU head coach Lauren Jones-Spencer said. "We're looking forward to more competition."
 
The Cougars are coming off a strong showing in the BYU Invitational. Seven of the eight players who qualified for the quarterfinals were from BYU. Junior Meghan Sheehan-Dizon took the singles title while also winning the doubles.
 
The BYU freshmen also played well. Savannah Ware made a strong run, losing in the singles final. Freshman Mayci Jones teamed with Sheehan-Dizon to take the doubles title while freshman Toby Miclat won the consolation bracket after losing to eventual champion Sheehan-Dizon.
 
The California tournament will begin at 8 a.m. on Friday, starting with doubles.
