ALBUQUERQUE -- The BYU women's golf team placed 15th in the Dick McGuire Golf Invitational, which concluded Saturday in New Mexico.

The team posted an total score of 946 to finish 15th in the field of 18 teams. BYU fell behind early in the three-day tournament, and despite a strong resurgence, could not come back to finish higher.

Carrie Summerhays, who started out the first day tied for 60th place, rebounded and finished with the best score for the Cougars at 228, good for 29th place.

The University of Arizona dominated the invitational from the beginning and took overall team honors. The individual crown went to Angela Stanford of TCU, who edged Arizona's Jenna Daniels by one stroke to claim the victory.

Host New Mexico tied USC for second place, while Colorado State managed a 14th-place finish ahead of BYU.

ALBUQUERQUE -- The BYU women's golf team will compete in the Dick McGuire Golf Invitational Thursday and Friday in Albuqerque, N.M.

The Cougars will be led by Carrie Summerhays and Teal Theron, who placed second and fourth, respectively, at the BYU Golf Invitational last week in Springville. The team placed third overall in the competition.

Eighteen teams will participate in the two-day tournament to be held at New Mexico South Course in Albuquerque. The following teams will be represented: Arizona, Arizona State, BYU, Colorado State, Kansas, New Mexico, New Mexico State, Oklahoma, Oklahoma State, Oregon State, Southern Methodist, Texas, Texas A&M, Texas Christian, UCLA, USC, UTEP and Texas Tech.
