Hobble Creek Invitational Preview

PROVO, Utah - The BYU women's golf team will enter its third season in the West Coast Conference and is ready to build off from last year with its strong returners and new upcoming talent.

BYU will tee off the fall schedule on Monday and Tuesday, Sept. 9-10 at the Hobble Creek Invitational in Springville. Utah Valley, Weber State and Southern Utah are among the participating teams to play in the invitational. The two-day event will give Cougar fans a rare opportunity to watch the team compete locally.

“It’s nice to be close,” BYU women's golf head coach Carrie Roberts said. “We’re familiar with the course and the girls can sleep in their own beds and eat their own food. It’s nice to play in front of family and friends as well.”

Roberts expects great things this year.

“I’m expecting us to play well and have a really good fall season,” Roberts said. “We’ve got four tournaments and we’ve played every course, so we’re familiar with them. I’m looking for a very consistent and positive season.”

The Cougars welcome Annie Yang of British Columbia, Canada and Brooklyn Anderson of Idaho Falls, Idaho and hope for big contributions.

“I expect them to contribute a lot,” Roberts said. “I believe Annie will step in and be one of our top contributors, but I also expect Brooklyn to contribute as well.”

Returning from last season are Annika Afoa Kahaialii, Selu Fotu, Lea Garner and Gabby Gregory
