Fayetteville, Ark. (Dec. 3, 2000) Erin Thorn's 24 points including six three-pointers were not enough for the Cougars to overcome a 19-point half-time deficit as BYU falls to Arkansas 93-73, Monday.

The loss puts the BYU record at 4-2 on the year with the Lady Razorbacks improving to 4-3.

Even though the Cougars scored 45 points to Arkansas 46 in the second half, BYU got within 14-points in the period, but could get no closer. The Lady Razorbacks had a 29-point advantage with 9:30 left in the game.

Lisa Osguthorpe led BYU in rebounds with eight. Senior transfer Kaly Shippen came off the bench for a strong performance that included a season high 15 points.

"We have to do a better job defending inside in particular," said coach Trent Shippen after the disappointing loss. "We need to bounce back from this because we have a tough game at home on Thursday against a very good Northern Iowa team."

Wendi Willits shot well for Arkansas to lead all scores with 27 points . The Lady Razorbacks shot 55 percent from the field compared to BYU's 47 percent performance.

The Cougars return home to host Northern Iowa on Thursday. Game time is set for 4:30 p.m. followed by a men's game against Florida International.
