No. 14 BYU back at it with Pacific Invitational
PROVO, Utah – No. 14 BYU men’s golf resumes play this week after a two-week break, participating in the Visit Stockton Pacific Invitational, Oct. 25-27.
“We’ve had some nice qualifying rounds for this tournament,” BYU head coach Bruce Brockbank said of the team’s preparation. “I hope that will carry over to the next event.”
BYU started the season off with a first-place finish at the William H. Tucker Invitational and remained near the top with second and fourth-place finishes at the following two tournaments, earning them a spot in the season’s first NCAA Top 25 rankings. The team looks to maintain the high level of play going to California, where the Cougars took second place in the Pacific Invitational last year.
Three Cougars are featured in the NCAA Top 50 individual rankings: Peter Kuest at 40, Rhett Rasmussen at 49 and Carson Lundell at 50. All three have finished in the top 10 at two of the three tournaments so far, with Kuest finishing in the top three twice.
BYU will compete against three West Coast Conference foes at the tournament, with Pacific hosting and Saint Mary's and San Francisco also competing. Teams will play 54 holes over the span of three days on the par-71, 6,480-yard golf course at Stockton Golf and Country Club. Live stats and the leaderboard can be found at Golfstat.
