Two Cougars named Volleyball Magazine All-Americans
PROVO, Utah—Jennifer Hamson and Nicole Warner were named Volleyball Magazine All-Americans Tuesday after helping the BYU women’s volleyball team to a round of 16 finish in the 2012 NCAA tournament.
Hamson was named a second-team All-American and Warner was named a third-team All-American.
Hamson finished the season No. 17 in the country for points per set at 5.03. She led the Cougars (28-4) with 4.09 kills per set on .362 hitting and had 1.26 blocks per set, the second most on the team. The 6-foot-7 opposite hitter was named West Coast Conference Player of the Year after leading her team to a share of the WCC title. She also garnered AVCA All-America First Team honors.
Warner led the BYU defense with 1.80 blocks per set, finishing No. 2 in the NCAA in that category. She finished her time at BYU No. 3 for career block assists (627) and No. 4 for total career blocks (657). The middle blocker was also No. 6 in the NCAA for hitting percentage, hitting .423. Warner was named WCC Co-Defensive Player of the Year and received AVCA All-America Honorable Mention.
