BYU vs. Oklahoma postmatch quotes

BYU Head Coach Shawn Olmstead

“Overall, this was a great match. I was very impressed with Oklahoma. I think they even played better than last night. Tonight, for some reason, I never felt comfortable, always wanting our girls to play better, and they pulled through.”

“At one point during the match, we called a timeout when they were up 9-6 because we didn’t want Oklahoma to get into it. My assistants always do a great job at reminding me when I should call a timeout. We were able to adjust and then went on a run. It is so nice to have the depth and the subs we have on our team. Jessica Jardine is a great example. Every game she gets more and more digs, and she is playing a role she wasn’t used to at the beginning of the year.”

Heather Hannemann

“We have powerful hitters on this team, so it makes my job pretty easy. Even if I didn’t make the right decision as to who to set, I am confident that all our hitters will put the ball down. We have great passers and that allows us to have a great offense.”

Tia Withers

“As a defender, our blockers make it easy for us to make plays. We were able to watch a lot of film on Oklahoma and were able to study their hitters. It’s a great feeling to play in the Smith Fieldhouse. We have a great fan base, and it was great to finish the season undefeated at home.”

Oklahoma Head Coach Santiago Restrepo

“Hats off to BYU. They’re a great team. They’re well coached, and I wish them luck in the next round. They are very similar to Texas as far as the way they play. They are tall and very physical.”

“As a team, I feel like our girls got better at blocking, especially getting more touches from last year. We had a senior class this year who were great role models for our young team. All of them have been to the NCAA tournament four years in a row. This was especially a great experience for our freshman. We had true freshman play in every game this season.”

Morgan Reynolds

“It was obvious that BYU scouted us and did a great job adjusting to the way we played. Because of that, we weren’t able to hit like we are used to. The main thing that we have tried to work on is hitting high off hands. We were able to do that tonight, but we still got blocked several times
