PROVO, Utah—The BYU women’s volleyball team has signed two new recruits for the 2013 season—Cosy Burnett and Camille Walker.

“The signing of Camille and Cosy is an exciting time and another step forward for BYU volleyball,” head coach Shawn Olmstead said. “Both of these athletes have played volleyball at a high level for a number of years. They will add experience and depth to a couple different positions.”

Outside hitter Burnett, a San Diego native, is team captain for the La Costa Canyon High School team. She has led her team to three consecutive CIF Championship titles and was named to three all-tournament teams. Burnett was also included in the 2012-13 Under Armour All-America Second Team and was named Prep Volleyball Top 100 Senior Ace.

“Cosy comes from a strong volleyball club and region,” Olmstead said. “She has been competing against the best for some time. I have known her for many years and it’s exciting to see her develop into a Division I player. Her athleticism, skill and personality are a perfect fit for BYU.”

Walker, an outside hitter out of Kaysville, Utah, was team captain for Davis High School and led her team to a third-place finish in the Utah 5A Championships this season. She was a 5A all-state first team selection for the Deseret News and the Salt Lake Tribune and was named to the state 5A all-star team and 5A state championship all-tournament team.

“Camille is a state champion and comes from a BYU volleyball family,” Olmstead said. “Her sister Kayla was a huge part of our program. Camille adds competitive fight and years of volleyball experience. Her drive and work ethic will contribute a ton to her success at the next level.”
