BYU jumps up to No. 15 in AVCA poll
PROVO, Utah--The BYU women's volleyball team moved up to No. 15 in the AVCA Coaches Poll Monday, their highest ranking since 2007.
BYU defeated in-state rival Utah 3-0 before sweeping off Bowling Green and Portland State to win the BYU Nike Invitational. The wins increased the Cougars' record to 9-0, their best start since 2005. Only two other teams in the top 25 have 9-0 records (Southern California and Kansas State) and only one other team has more wins (Michigan with a 10-1 record).
The last time BYU reached the top 15 was in 2007, when the Cougars finished the year ranked No. 12 after defeating No. 6 Washington in the NCAA Tournment.
The Cougars are back in action this weekend in Washington, D.C., at the George Washington Invitational.
