Two Volleyball Players Earn All-Conference Honors

PROVO, Utah—BYU women’s volleyball players Jennifer Hamson and Christie Carpenter were named to the 2011 All-West Coast Conference Team Wednesday for excellent performances in league play.

Hamson, an opposite hitter from Lindon, Utah, led the conference with 3.96 kills per set overall, 3.67 per set in conference play, and added 2.38 digs per set overall. Hamson earned one WCC Player of the Week award and earned WCC Player of the Month for September.

Carpenter, a senior from Cedar Hills, Utah, recorded 3.03 kills per set during conference play. The only senior starter for the Cougars, Carpenter also had 1.98 digs per set in league play.

The players helped BYU earn third place in conference, tied with Saint Mary’s. The Cougars were picked to finish sixth in the preseason coaches’ poll.
