Two Cougars Named to All-Academic Squad

PROVO, Utah--Junior middle blocker Nicole Warner and sophomore outside hitter Jennifer Hamson were named to the 2011 West Coast Conference Women's Volleyball All-Academic Team for their athletic contributions and academic achievements in 2011.

Warner led the Cougars and the league in blocks with 1.51 per set and maintained a 3.69 GPA in exercise science. Warner is also No. 7 in NCAA Division I women's volleyball for blocks per set.

Hamson, an undeclared major, led the team and the league in kills with 3.94 per set.

Junior libero Kendalyn Hartsock also received an Academic Honorable Mention for a 3.29 GPA.

At the conclusion of each athletic season, the WCC selects an all-academic squad for each WCC-sponsored sport. To be considered for the award women's volleyball, a student-athlete must maintain at least a 3.20 cumulative grade point average, be a significant contributor to her team and participate in at least 50 percent of all contests and have at least sophomore athletic and academic standing with at least one year in residence at the nominating institution.
