Three Women's Volleyball Players Earn MWC Scholar Athlete Awards

PROVO, Utah (June 28, 2011)—The Mountain West Conference named three BYU women’s volleyball players to the 2011 Scholar Athlete Award list Tuesday for their significant academic achievements.

Players who received the accolades earned a 3.5 grade point average or higher, attended class for two semesters and participated in an NCAA-sanctioned sport at the varsity level.

Middle blocker Kimberli Boswell, a junior from Aloha, Ore., earned a 3.66 GPA in chemistry teaching. She contributed 10 kills and eight blocks.

Junior Nicole Warner, a native of Rigby, Idaho, earned a 3.69 GPA in exercise science. Warner led the Cougars with 162 blocks and 205 kills in 2010, also playing middle blocker.

Jennifer Hamson, a product of Pleasant Grove, Utah, received a 3.63 GPA in her first year at BYU. As a right side hitter, Hamson had 246 kills and 29 service aces.
