COLORADO SPRINGS -- The Mountain West All-Conference Volleyball awards, as selected by the league's nine head coaches, were announced today. BYU’s middle blocker Stephanie Snow earned the league’s inaugural Newcomer of the Year, as well as being named to the All-MWC Team.

“I was hoping for All-Conference, but I was very surprised that I would be named the Newcomer of the Year,” Snow said. “I couldn’t have done it without my team. It is a great honor.”

Snow, a senior middle blocker from Tempe, Ariz., earned the MWC’s inaugural Newcomer of the Year award after leading the Conference in hitting percentage (.384) in league play. Overall, the transfer from the University of Arizona ranked fourth in hitting percentage (.352). Snow averaged 2.63 kills and 0.75 blocks per set overall. She also tallied double-figure kills in 17 matches.

Snow was named MWC Player of the Week on Oct. 11 after leading the Cougars to two 3-0 sweeps over San Diego State and Utah Valley on the road. She led the offensive attack in each match as BYU ended an eight-match losing streak with the wins. At SDSU, Snow hit .368 with eight kills and four blocks while against backyard rival Utah Valley, Snow hit .632 with 13 kills and three blocks.

Finishing with 324 kills on a .352 clip, Snow led the Cougars on the attack for the 2010 season.
