Measom Garners MWC Player of the Week

COLORADO SPRINGS -- BYU opposite hitter Christina Measom has been named Mountain West Conference Volleyball Player of the Week. It is the first league weekly honor for Measom in her career.

“She played fantastic last weekend,” BYU head coach Shay Goulding said. “She did a great job of putting the ball away and being a team leader. All through practice last week and in last weekend’s matches she had a very competitive attitude.”

Measom, a 6-0 senior from Lehi, Utah, led the Cougars to two 3-1 wins over TCU and MWC second-place New Mexico. Against TCU, Measom recorded a career-high 18 kills on .455 hitting with two aces, four digs and two block assists. Measom recorded 14 kills in the last home match of her career against New Mexico while hitting .407 with three digs and three blocks.

For the week, Measom averaged 4.00 kills, 0.63 blocks and 4.60 points per set, while hitting .433 (32-6-60) over eight sets. She also had two aces and seven digs.

Measom and the Cougars will hit the road this week to take on Wyoming Wednesday and Colorado State Saturday, both matches will begin at 7 p.m. MT.
