PROVO -- Starting the second half of Mountain West Conference play with a loss at Utah, the BYU women’s volleyball team (9-14, 4-5 MWC) now looks to come back with another win against San Diego State (12-12, 5-5 MWC) Saturday at 7 p.m. in the Smith Fieldhouse.

The match will be televised live on BYUtv with Jarom Jordan and Kristen Kozlowski calling the action.

In the only match this week, the Cougars will take on SDSU in the 58th meeting between the teams. BYU leads the all-time series at 40-17, with the Cougars taking the last four matches, including a 3-0 sweep at San Diego this season.

The Aztecs are led by Kyley Sexton on the attack with 248 kills at 3.06 kills per set while Kristi Jackels anchors the back row with 310 total digs and 3.48 per set.

The Cougars are coming off a 3-2 loss at Utah, where they started the match strong, but lost steam and eventually fell to the Utes for the sixth-consecutive time. Jennifer Hamson and Stephanie Snow led the Cougars on the attack with 14 and 13 kills, respectively, with Kiana Rogers distributing the ball 42 times. Senior Christina Measom was also in double-digits at the net with 12 kills.

Three Cougars were in double-digit digs, led by libero Kendalyn Hartsock (12), Kiana Rogers (11) and Brooke Soon (10). Both Nicole Warner and Hamson added seven blocks.

SDSU is coming off a 3-0 loss to No. 14 Colorado State. The Aztecs were led by freshman outside hitter Summer Nash, who tallied 10 kills to finish in double figures in that category for the fifth-straight match. She also had a pair of blocks and two digs. Fellow freshman Raegan Shelton contributed nine kills over the three sets while sophomore Andrea Hannasch led the Aztecs with three blocks.

After Saturday’s match the Cougars will travel to UNLV Nov. 11 and Air Force Nov. 13.
