OGDEN -- The third-straight road sweep went to the BYU women’s volleyball team Tuesday night at Weber State. The Cougars improve to 6-12 (1-3 MWC) on the season while the Wildcats fall to 2-18 overall.

“The girls played phenomenal tonight,” BYU head coach Shay Goulding said. “It was so nice to have everyone play tonight and to hit .449. Each win is giving us the confidence we need to keep pushing forward.”

All 15 Cougars were able to play in the match, everyone earning at least one stat on the night. For the second match in a row, senior Stephanie Snow led the Cougars on the attack with 12 kills, no errors and hitting with an .800 clip. Junior Christie Carpenter led the defense with 12 digs while senior setter Kiana Rogers had 31 assists.

The Cougars started out the match with a 6-0 run in set one with Hamson behind the service line. The Wildcats gently chipped away at the score, eventually knotting it at 16, 18 and 19. The Cougars were able to come out victorious in the end at 25-22, with two late kills from Measom.

In set two, Weber State scored the first couple points, but the Cougars would soon find themselves with a nine-point lead, putting away set two 25-14.

Set three brought in Kimberli Boswell, Jessica Jardine and others off the bench to tally kills for the Cougars. Jardine finished off the set and match with a kill at 25-14.

“It’s a quick turnover to play the next two matches this week – we just need to keep doing the right things on our side of the net,” Goulding said.

The Cougars will be back home in the Smith Fieldhouse Thursday and Saturday at 7 p.m. to take on Air Force and UNLV, respectively. The match on Saturday against the Rebels will be a Pink-Out – wear your pink and blue to honor Breast Cancer Awareness Month.
