Snow Earns MWC Player of the Week
COLORADO SPRINGS -- BYU middle blocker Stephanie Snow has been named Mountain West Conference Volleyball Player of the Week, marking the first weekly honor of her career, and the first Cougar to earn the award this season.
"We've seen her efficiency get better and better with every match," BYU head coach Shay Goulding said. "She was not only a very efficient hitter, but very effective in making plays for us this week."
Snow, a 6-4 senior from Tempe, Ariz., led the Cougars to two 3-0 sweeps last week over San Diego State and Utah Valley on the road. Snow, a transfer from Arizona, led the offensive attack in each match as BYU ended an eight-match losing streak with the wins. At San Diego State, Snow hit .368 with eight kills and four blocks. On Saturday against backyard rival Utah Valley, Snow hit .632 with 13 kills and three blocks.
In only her third and fourth matches as middle blocker for the Cougars, Snow has dominated the middle with hard hits and stuff blocks.
For the week, Snow averaged 3.50 kills, 1.16 blocks and 4.25 points per set, while hitting .500 (21-2-38) over six sets. She also had three assists, one service ace and one dig.
