PROVO -- After winning two home matches against Utah Valley and UNLV last week, the BYU women’s volleyball (12-10, 6-4) team hits the road to take on TCU on Thursday at 7 p.m. CT and New Mexico on Saturday at 7 p.m. MT in vital Mountain West Conference matches.

“We are playing one game at a time,” said BYU head coach Shay Goulding. “TCU is on a roll and feeling good about themselves. They are going to have their crowd behind them, but they are going to see a completely different team in us than they saw last time.”

The Cougars played TCU at home on Oct. 10, losing in three, their second conference loss of the season. The Horned Frogs boast a 21-5 overall record and a 10-2 record in the MWC.

BYU played the Lobos at home on Thursday, Oct. 8, sweeping UNM in three. New Mexico has since earned a 16-8, 7-5 MWC record.

“New Mexico also has a good crowd that will be behind them, but if we play them like we did last time, we’ll come out on top,” said Goulding.

The last time out, BYU defended the Smith Fieldhouse to finish off the month of October with two 3-1 victories.

On Tuesday the Cougars took on Utah Valley University with Christie Carpenter leading the way with 12 kills while Camilla Phillips tallied career highs in both kills (10) and blocks (seven). Melissa Lake Wright tallied 16 digs in the libero position and setter Kiana Rogers had her eighth double-double of the season with 38 assists and 11 digs.

On Thursday the Cougars welcomed the UNLV Rebels to the court, donning pink uniforms in honor of Breast Cancer Awareness Month. Kayla Walker recorded 13 kills and added 10 digs, giving her six double-doubles on the season. Casey Speredon-Thurston and Christina Measom added nine kills apiece, while Melissa Lake-Wright’s 18 digs marked her fourth-straight match in double-digits. Freshman Nicole Warner also boasted a .857 hitting percentage off of six kills and no errors.

The match against TCU will be broadcast LIVE on The Mtn. at 7 p.m. CT and live stats are available for both matches via GameTracker.
