PROVO -- The Cougars secured their best start since 1977 and 14th win of the season Friday night, rolling through the Air Force Academy in three games and letting everyone in on the action along the way.

The Cougars trailed only once during the contest, indicative of how the entire evening would go for the Falcons. The Cougars held their opponent to a -.009 hitting percentage on the night behind the blocking of Rachael Dyer and the offensive power of outside hitters Chelsea Goodman and Erica Lott, who had 16 and 14 kills respectively.

After a quick first game, which had BYU feeling like its undefeated season was not in jeopardy, coach Jason Watson decided to give the bench some playing time. Virtually emptying his bench midway through the second game, Watson watched from the sideline as the players he had on the floor held off the Falcons. With the inexperienced team on the floor, the Cougars battled to a 30-26 win, a game whose score was closer than the competition was.

"We feel everyone on the roster has contributed to our success," Watson said. "So it was our hope to reward some people with playing time tonight."

After the break BYU returned to form, leaving no doubt as to why they are ranked No.16 in the country. The Cougars pounded out a 21-6 run to end the game, including 11 straight points served by Erica Lott. On the defensive side, BYU held Air Force to only two kills and forced them into 10 hitting errors. By the time the game was over, each of the 14 eligible players on the Cougar roster had taken the floor and BYU's unbeaten season remained in tact.

"I think being 14-0 adds a little pressure to us," outside hitter Chelsea Goodman said. "We're the team in the conference everyone wants to beat, but I think it helps us play better."

The Cougars look to continue their winning ways Saturday night against the Lobos of New Mexico. The match begins at 5 p.m.
