PROVO -- BYU's offense hit a season-high .383 as the Cougars improved to 5-0 with a four-game (24-30, 30-24, 30-26, 30-14) victory over Utah State on Elaine Michaelis Court Saturday.

Led by sophomore outside hitter Chelsea Goodman, the BYU attack had four players record double-digit kills to help drop the Aggies to a 4-4 record. Goodman put down 20 kills while hitting .438, topping her previous career-high mark of 16 kills set days earlier during BYU's win at Idaho State on Wednesday. Middle blockers Lindsy Hartsock and Rachel Dyer added 16 and 14 kills, respectively, while outside hitter Erica Lott totaled 10 kills.

"Chelsea made some very key plays," said BYU coach Jason Watson. "She can get on the ball quickly and has a great deal of range. Her success tonight is a credit to what she's done every day in practice and over the summer."

Hartsock showed why she is an All-America candidate, hitting better than .500 for the second time in five matches this year with a .560 success rate. Dyer, a redshirt freshman who is quickly proving she will also be a force in the middle, recorded double-figure kills for the third time this year and hit .500 with only two attack errors in 24 attempts.

The Cougars built momentum throughout the match after a slow start. Hartsock put down four of her six attempts in game one to help the Cougars out hit the Aggies but BYU committed six more errors than Utah State overall, five coming from the service line, to help USU claim the first game, 30-24.

Thanks to BYU's middle attack, the Cougars reversed the score in the second game, winning 30-24 to even the match. Hartsock dominated with six kills in seven attempts while Dyer recorded eight kills in 12 attacks.

BYU converted the momentum of its game-two win into a 30-26 victory in game three. The Cougars were able to hold off the Aggies by hitting a sizzling .515 during the game, with only two hitting miscues. Goodman led the way with eight game-three kills on 11 attempts and also ended Utah State's comeback hopes with a block for BYU's 30th point.

Any doubt as to the outcome of the match quickly disappeared in game four when the Cougars jumped out to a 5-1 lead and then never looked back while cruising to a 30-14 victory. Much to the delight of the 1,842 Cougar fans in attendance at the Smith Fieldhouse, BYU scored the final five points of the match with Goodman bringing the cheers to a full crescendo with a service-ace game-winner to end the match.

The Aggies hit .129 for the match and were led by 11-kill efforts from Zuzana Cernianska and Beth Hodge.

BYU will take its perfect record to the Buckeye Classic hosted by 12th-ranked Ohio State next week. The Cougars open the tournament against Duke on Friday before facing either Ohio State or Pittsburgh on Saturday.
