FORT COLLINS -- BYU suffered its first three-game defeat of the season Saturday as No. 7 Colorado State swept the Cougars 30-21, 30-24, 30-17 in Fort Collins, Colo.

The Rams improve to 14-2 on the year and 6-1 in the Mountain West Conference, while BYU falls to 10-8 overall and 4-3 in league play.

"We weren't able to consistently play well," BYU coach Karen Lamb said. "We made a lot of hitting errors, which you can't do against a good team. Colorado State is a good team,"

The Cougars were held to a .147 attack percentage, making 20 hitting errors while putting down 37 kills. Coming off an upset loss to No. 18 Utah Friday, the Rams came out on fire, hitting .500 in the first game on their way to a .390 match attack percentage.

The Cougars best offensive production came from the outside where freshman Erica Lott had a team-high 13 kills and .226 attack percentage and junior Kim Wilson added eight kills with a .261 hitting percentage. On the other side of the net, CSU's Tess Rogers was nearly unstoppable, recording a match-best 15 kills on 19 attempts with only one error for a .737 attack percentage.

Despite a season-low 28 assists, Cougar setter Lauren Richards posted her fifth double-double of the season by coming up with 10 digs. Wilson also contributed 10 digs for the Cougars.

The top blocking team in the Mountain West Conference, BYU managed only six blocks to the Rams' 10 blocks.

BYU returns to Provo to host Notre Dame Wednesday in the Smith Fieldhouse.
