LARAMIE -- The Cougars came up short in their bid to extend their five-match win streak, losing in four games to the Wyoming Cowgirls Friday night in Laramie. Four Cougars posted double-digit kills in the loss as BYU dropped to 10-7 overall and 4-2 in the Mountain West Conference.

"We just seemed out of sync for most of the night," said BYU head coach Karen Lamb. "Wyoming played well and made nice plays at the right times. They made it difficult for us and it was one of those nights where we just couldn't seem to get on a roll."

All four games went to the wire as the Cougars took the first game 30-27 but could not hold on to the next three, losing 28-30, 29-31 and 27-30. BYU hit .270 on the night while Wyoming hit .293, marking only the fifth time this season the Cougars have been outhit by their opponents. BYU is 0-5 in those matches.

Junior Lexi Brown and redshirt freshman Erica Lott led the Cougars with 16 kills apiece, matching a season-high for Brown. Lauren Richards recorded her team-leading fifth double-double of the season with 55 assists and 10 kills as well as led the Cougars with a .500 hitting percentage.

Lindsy Hartsock, the nation's top blocker and third-best hitter added 13 kills and seven blocks on the night. Lindsey Metcalf rounded out the double-digit efforts for BYU with 13 digs. True freshman Chelsea Goodman also contributed for the Cougars in her 12th match of the season, recording a career-high six kills on .400 hitting.

"A lot of our players really did well tonight," Lamb said. "Lauren (Richards) had a good attacking night and Erica (Lott) and Lexi (Brown) really played well. Chelsea (Goodman) was also able to come in and give us some good swings."

The Cougars will spend the evening on the road as they now travel to Fort Collins, Colorado to take on the No. 7 Colorado State Rams Saturday night. BYU is 44-15 against Colorado State and has the distinction of being the last MWC team to defeat the league-leading Rams. Live audio will be available for the 7 p.m. match by going to the schedule page of the BYU Women's Volleyball home page at http://www.byucougars.com/volleyball_w/.
