BYU adds transfer libero in Hiapo
PROVO, Utah — BYU women’s volleyball head coach Heather Olmstead has announced the addition of transfer libero Kamaile Hiapo.
The 5-foot-7 senior will join the Cougars after four seasons at the University of Arizona. Hiapo was named honorable mention All-Pac-12 twice during her time with the Wildcats. She led Arizona with 492 digs last season, good for fourth in Wildcat single-season history.
Tallying 1,655 for an average of 3.78 digs per set for her career, Hiapo also recorded 446 assists, 84 service aces and 24 kills in 438 sets played at Arizona. A Skyline High School graduate from Gilbert, Arizona, she was a three-time all-state performer, including being named the Arizona Player of the Year as a senior.
Hiapo joins transfer setter Kalia Thunstrom as well as outside hitter Addison Benson, setter Silina Damuni, middle blocker Brielle Kemavor, middle blocker/opposite hitter Mia Lee, outside hitter Claire Little and libero Brielle Miller as members of BYU's 2023 recruiting class.
