Gneiting named WCC Defensive Player of the Week
SAN MATEO, Calif. — BYU women's volleyball senior middle blocker Heather Gneiting was named West Coast Conference (WCC) Defensive Player of the Week, the league announced Monday.
Gneiting was influential at the net in the Cougars' two conference wins at Portland and Gonzaga this week, recording seven blocks in each game. Tallying 14 totals blocks on the week, including three solo blocks, the middle blocker finished with a game-high in blocks in both of BYU's matches, also notching six digs.
Offensively, the Pleasant Grove, Utah native put down 19 kills on a .378 clip and recorded two service aces. This is the second WCC honor of Gneiting's career. She was also named Player of the Week once during her freshman season in 2018. Gneiting is the first BYU player to earn a weekly WCC honor this season.
