Former Cougar competing for U.S. at Pan American Cup
PROVO, Utah — Former BYU women's volleyball outside hitter Roni Jones-Perry is competing with Team USA in Hermosillo, Sonora, Mexico this week for the Pan American Cup.
One of four outside hitters on the roster, Jones-Perry and the United States are competing in Mexico from Aug. 21-28 in a pool with Costa Rica, defending champion Dominican Republic, Peru and Puerto Rico. The other pool consists of Canada, Colombia, Cuba, host Mexico and Nicaragua.
Jones-Perry, a Copper Hills High School alum out of West Jordan, Utah, played for the Cougars from 2015-18. Among many honors, she was named to the All-WCC Freshman Team, All-WCC First Team twice and the AVCA Pacific South All-Region First Team twice.
As a senior in 2018, Jones-Perry was both the WCC and AVCA Pacific South Region Player of the Year, a finalist for the AVCA National Player of the Year and Honda Award, and was named to the AVCA and VolleyballMag.com All-America First Team, being named NCAA Provo Regional MVP as well.
