BYU women’s volleyball releases 2022 schedule

PROVO, Utah — BYU women’s volleyball will begin its 53rd season of competition and final season in the West Coast Conference Aug. 26 at the Smith Fieldhouse, as the Cougars look to make their 10th NCAA Sweet 16 appearance in the last 11 seasons.

BYU starts things off with a challenging non-conference slate, facing three teams who finished last season in the top-11 nationally and five in the top-25: No. 4 Pittsburgh, No. 8 Georgia Tech, No. 11 Ohio State, No. 18 Utah and No. 23 Washington State.

BYU finished last season No. 9.

First up on the schedule, the Cougars will host the BYU Invitational Aug. 26-27, which will feature BYU, Duke, Rider and Washington State.

The Cougars will host a second BYU Invitational Sept. 1-3, which will feature BYU, Cincinnati, Pitt and Utah State.

BYU will also face Georgia Tech, Ohio State, Utah and Utah Valley before conference play begins.

WCC play begins with matchups against LMU and Pepperdine Sept. 22 and 24 in the Smith Fieldhouse. The conference schedule continues with Thursday and Saturday matchups through the majority of the season and will conclude with a Tuesday night home match against San Diego on Nov. 22.

After falling to Pitt in the Sweet 16 last season, the Cougars finished with a 30-2 record, which included going 18-0 in conference play and winning the team’s sixth conference title in the last seven seasons.

Despite losing four starters from last season, the Cougars still return plenty of production, featuring WCC Setter of the Year and All-America Honorable Mention Whitney Bower, along with USA Collegiate National Team members Erin Livingston and Heather Gneiting.

Season and individual game tickets for the 2022 season will go on sale soon. Cougar Club members and previous season ticket holders will be sent an email with information about season ticket renewals that will take place as early as July 12.
