SAN MATEO, Calif. – Sophomore libero Madi Allen collected this week's West Coast Conference Defensive Player of the Week award, the league announced Monday.

This award marks the first WCC weekly honor collected by a BYU player this season. Last week, the No. 13 Cougars won the BYU Invitational and remained undefeated (6-0) on the young season. Allen contributed to this success by racking up 64 receptions and 43 digs during the three matches.

On Sept. 4 against Michigan State, the Temecula, Calif. native achieved her highest dig count of the season, 17 digs.

Additionally, Allen tallied six assists and five service aces. Four of her five aces occurred in a single match on Sept. 2 against Weber State.

This is the libero’s third time receiving this honor during her time as a Cougar.
